ways to give back and make a difference during covid-19
With everything going on in the world right now, we think it’s so important to continue doing our part with giving back to others and helping out where we can; however, since our Charity of the Month events are currently placed on hold, we wanted to come up with an alternative way that you can be staying involved with your community during this time. With that being said, I know most everyone is trying to be extra financially wise and prepared for the worst. BUT there are ways to give back that actually don’t even cost anything to you! So, here are a few ways you can make a difference in our economy, community and in the lives of others!
Amazon Smile
Did you know that amazon has an alternate login site that allows a portion of what you order to go to a charity? Since I have been ordering more online to avoid going into stores when I need something, I just completed this and connected my account to a charity! Instead of going to amazon.com, go to smile.amazon.com and log in to your account. You can choose one of their spotlight charities or you can search for a charity you want to support. After you select your charity, make sure all your orders placed go through the AmazonSmile page. Voila! You’re making a difference and it’s not costing anything extra! Kroger Community Rewards
If you shop at Kroger and have a Kroger card/account, you can do the same thing there that you just did with Amazon! If you shop at Kroger and don’t have a Kroger account, I highly suggest it! It’s simple, free and saves you money! Once you have an account, just click HERE and it’ll walk you through the steps on how to set up a charity through your account. Easy-peasy!
Adopt a pet
If you’ve been thinking about adopting a pet, now just might be the perfect time! While most people are spending more time at home, it’s a great time to bring in a pet and have a little extra time to train them or house break them, as needed. There are so many animals that are in need of a forever home and, if you’re thinking about taking the plunge, HERE is a great site for helping you find your new family member!
Donate Food
Next time you go to the store, consider picking up a couple of extra items for your local food pantry. Some items that are helpful are spaghetti noodles, spaghetti sauce, jelly (plastic containers), peanut butter, cereal, and canned meats. Or, if you’re able to donate financially, every dollar you donate provides three meals! Even if you can only donate $1, you’re making a significant difference in someone’s life! Here are a couple of local food pantries you can consider helping:
